Juventus fight to defeat Chievo Verona 2-1 - Player ratings

Struggling to entertain yet again, Juventus secured a hard fought 2-1 victory over Chievo Verona to reaffirm their motto: winning is the only thing that matters.

Despite playing in a 4-3-3 shape that seemed to draw out the best of Miralem Pjanic, Juventus struggled to create any real opportunities in the first half. Rolando Maran's side defended with tenacity, closing off the spaces to force the Bianconeri into shooting from distance.

With Juan Cuadrado offering the vertical edge and Pjanic providing the creativity, Juve's superior talent made the difference after the break as they looked to atone for their error that led to Chievo's equaliser from the penalty spot.

Juventus back to their best by defeat Manchester City in CL

Welcome back to the real Juventus, a side that will always understand the value of discipline, organisation and sacrificial play. It's been a difficult start to the season and many were quick to write them off in a match against the current Premier League leaders but despite the criticisms and the piling pressure, the Bianconeri executed Massimiliano Allegri's tactics perfectly to register their first European win of the season.

Many thought Allegri would revert back to the 3-5-2 formation in order to offer his back-line some added support. However, rather than play a predictable XI, Juventus lined up in a 4-3-3 formation to startle those who had already made their assumptions based on the practice sessions.

It's a 4-3-3 formation against Parma

Forty points separate Juventus from Parma in the Serie A table, yet on Wednesday night in the Coppa Italia match, they played on par in what can only be described as the dullest match of the cup thus far.

Once again, Massimiliano Allegri relied upon the 4-3-3 formation in this competition, demonstrating his side's tactical flexibility, but unlike in the match against Hellas Verona, Juventus played a poor game riddled with errors. Disinterested and lethargic, the intensity was lacking while few were able to offer the creativity required to pierce through a stubborn Parma defence.

The Gialloblu are suffering this season both on and off the pitch yet they still played with pride, determination and intellect.

Del Piero and the A-League All Stars defeated

It was a feeling of pure nostalgia; a deep yearning. Enveloped by the warmth of beautiful memories and profound emotion, Alessandro Del Piero was on the pitch again, not in the Bianconeri shirt we have grown accustomed to him wearing, but as the opponent in an exciting friendly game that Juventus won 3-2 over the A-League All Stars.

An opportunity to play against Australia's best in a heaving atmosphere surrounded by cheerful fans, Juventus took to the pitch in an attempt to demonstrate their understanding of Massimiliano Allegri's ideas and ability to cope with the tough fitness regime recently imposed upon them. Make no mistake, this wasn't a relaxed game played by benchwarmers but a match that was treated with respect, with some of their best players, including Paul Pogba and Carlos Tevez, in the starting lineup.

Mapping out the future whilst awaiting Roma test

It's that time of the year again, when Juventus fans hope and pray that Antonio Conte will be given the necessary guarantees to commit his future to the club.

Despite his reputation as one of the world's best, Conte knows that he will never be at the top of the 'most wanted' list until he achieves European success. As such, a stay with the Italian champions would benefit him as much as it would benefit them, but he must first ascertain whether the club shares his ambitions and are willing to create the conditions necessary to attain the ultimate trophy.

After years of enjoying domestic glory, it's been made clear that the priority for next season will be the Champions League.
