Juventus must play courageous football

A talented squad boasting experience and an excellent tactician, Juventus are considered one of the favourites to lift the Champions League trophy. However, a limp performance in against Sevilla in the opening group fixture has dampened hopes and drawn criticism. Do Juventus have the mentality of the big clubs?

"We have to improve, but we're not Real Madrid and we never will be. We don't have their characteristics, if they concede 3-2 then it'll end 6-2," noted Giorgio Chiellini. Herein lies the problem with Juve: they'll never be a side renowned for their offensive brilliance and that just might cost them Europe's grandest trophy.

Chiellini is right. Defensive solidity can get you far but perhaps in this modern age of football, it doesn't get you over the line.
