When Crotone conceded four goals against Cagliari in their opening game of the Serie B season last year, fear set in. Appearing somewhat naïve, they were one man down after 60 minutes, allowing the Sardinians a chance to exploit their numerical superiority to flourish and bag a 4-0 score line.
Ivan Juric hung his head on the side lines. A bad start it may have been, but he believed in his men and the tactical style of play he chose to teach. A disciple of Gian Piero Gasperini, Juric is the Coach who revolutionised Crotone’s style of play and achieved glory for a club that had no right to challenge.
Hailing from a poor town in the south of Italy, the Pitagorici (a nickname on account of Pythagoras, the Greek philosopher who lived in the city), had no ambition or any hope of success.
