A performance of champions, Juventus may have not been the best team on the night but their experience and reading of the game earned them their 2-1 victory over an excellent but rather unlucky Fiorentina side.
Paulo Sousa's men controlled possession and demonstrated their fine brand of football, rotating the ball beautifully and looking for their opportunities to strike. Taking 21 shots on goal, it was clear the Viola ruled the game and yet couldn't score the goals they needed.
Their opponent, by contrast, demonstrated physical tenacity and great organisation, knowing when to defend and when to surge forward. Boasting individuals with superior quality, Juventus worked as a team, remaining vigilant to attacks but also striking quickly and effectively when the opportunity presented itself.
