Juventus fail against Sevilla and finish second in Group D of Champions League

On a night when the Italians needed only a draw to qualify as Group D winners in the Champions League, Fernando Llorente scored for Sevilla to condemn Juventus to a 1-0 defeat, leaving another giant in awe of Sevilla's tenacity. "Qualifying is what's important," said Massimiliano Allegri after the defeat and in a ground where Valencia, Barcelona and Real Madrid lost, Juventus were always going to suffer in the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium.

Except they shouldn't have. On the whole the Bianconeri played a much better game and created many more exciting chances, demonstrating their pace in getting behind the defenders as Claudio Marchisio perfectly directed the team from the midfield. Alvaro Morata should have scored three, Stefano Sturaro had a brilliant chance and Juventus even hit the woodwork, but sadly the Turin giants could not finish in the way they know how.
