Fiorentina now have the advantage in the Europa League

A broken record, a repeated pattern. When Juventus play Fiorentina, they show off their strength, score the goal(s) and then drop intensity to allow their opponent the opportunity to deliver the killer blow.

The Viola were unlucky not to manage something last weekend, but Thursday in the Europa League, Mario Gomez didn't err. He delivered the perfect finish to grab the away goal and end the match 1-1.

Once again, Fiorentina did what they do best. They controlled possession and rotated the ball, yet they rarely troubled their opponents.

Seemingly impotent in front of goal, they missed Giuseppe Rossi's intellect and Juan Cuadrado's pace and direct play. Without these two assets, the Bianconeri's defence felt confident and capable of dealing with the mild threat.
