The only representative of Italian football in the Champions League, Juventus can rest easy, at least until Monday when they discover the name of their next opponent in Europe. In the meantime, they have Sampdoria to think of and considering how far the Genoa team have come under the tutelage of coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, the match will be anything but easy.
The Blucerchiati is a special club with an impressive history. Having suffered in recent years, coach Mihajlovic arrived and set about creating a winning unit that understand the notion of sacrificing for one another. However, one cannot deny they are a club that are overachieving. The poor state of the league, combined with the collapse of the two Milanese giants has created a hole for a team who play with some consistency to exploit. Playing with abandon and virtually no pressure, Sampdoria are revelling in their underdog tag, gaining more and more confidence as the positive results continue.
While Sampdoria may have done well last season, their heinous defensive record caused huge problems for a side with ambitions.
